How to Cancel the Disney Bundle but Keep Hulu
You signed up for the bundle during some promotion, the price crept, and now you've noticed the only thing anyone in the house actually watches is Hulu. Good news: unbundling is allowed, it takes ten minutes, and if you only need Hulu with Ads it cuts the bill to $7.99. The entire trick is figuring out one thing first: who bills you. Prices and policies verified July 8, 2026.
Step 0: find out who bills you (30 seconds)
Open your bank or card statement and find the charge. The merchant name tells you which path below is yours: Hulu, Disney+ / Disney DTC, or a platform (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, or a carrier like Verizon). Everything else on this page depends on that answer.
Path A: billed by Hulu
- Sign in at hulu.com on a computer or mobile browser (not the app) and open your Account page.
- Under Your Subscription, select Manage Plan.
- Toggle off the bundle add-ons (Disney+, ESPN) and keep your Hulu base plan, or select Cancel and follow the prompts if you're ending the bundle plan entirely.
- Confirm, and check the summary screen shows Hulu ($7.99 with ads) as what remains. Screenshot it.
Path B: billed by Disney
- Sign in at disneyplus.com → profile → Account.
- Select your subscription and choose Cancel Subscription. Disney's help pages confirm the useful part: if you had a standalone Hulu subscription before you bundled, it resumes at its then-current price when the bundle ends.
- Never had standalone Hulu? Finish the bundle cancellation, then sign up fresh at hulu.com for $7.99 with ads. Same email means same profiles and watch history. There's no waiting period or penalty.
- Your bundle stays active until the end of the paid period, so time the switch to the day before renewal.
Path C: billed through Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, or your carrier
- Cancel in that platform's subscription settings (iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google Play: profile → Payments & subscriptions; Roku: Manage subscriptions). Hulu and Disney can't process third-party cancellations.
- After it lapses, subscribe to Hulu directly at hulu.com; direct billing makes every future change easier than platform billing.
The math: what unbundling actually saves
| Plan | Monthly | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Trio Premium (no ads) | $24.99 | $299.88 |
| Trio with ads | $14.99 | $179.88 |
| Duo Basic (Disney+ + Hulu, ads) | $12.99 | $155.88 |
| Hulu with Ads alone | $7.99 | $95.88 |
Dropping from the ad-supported Trio to standalone Hulu saves $84/year; from Trio Premium, $204/year. The honest counterpoint: if anyone in your household genuinely watches Disney+ or ESPN monthly, the bundle at $14.99 is cheaper than any two services separately, which is exactly why Disney sells it. The question isn't "is the bundle a deal," it's "do we watch the other two," and your watch history answers that better than your memory does. Our Hulu value breakdown and Disney+ review cover each service's actual catalog strength.
The 2026 merger wrinkle (read before deciding)
Disney is folding Hulu fully into the Disney+ app by the end of 2026, with the standalone Hulu app expected to be phased out. Your Hulu subscription survives either way; what changes is which app you open. Two practical implications: first, keeping standalone Hulu still works and still bills at Hulu prices even as the app migrates. Second, expect Disney to push bundle offers hard during the transition, because the merged app makes the bundle the default mental model. Decide on price and watch habits, not on the app shuffle.
Before you confirm: the checklist
| Check | Why |
|---|---|
| Renewal date | Cancellation takes effect at period end; switch the day before renewal to lose nothing |
| Watch history / profiles | Attached to your email, not your plan — they survive any of these paths |
| Annual-plan refunds | Prepaid annual bundles generally run out the term rather than refunding; check your plan's terms before assuming |
| Live TV plans | Hulu + Live TV ($82.99+) is a different product with its own flow; manage it on the Hulu account page |

Reveal my shame scoreFAQ
Can I really cancel the bundle and keep only Hulu?
Yes. If you had standalone Hulu before bundling, Disney's help pages confirm it resumes when the bundle ends. If not, cancel the bundle and sign up for Hulu with Ads at $7.99: no penalty, no waiting period, same account if you use the same email.
Where's the cancel button?
Wherever you're billed: hulu.com Account page (Hulu-billed), disneyplus.com account (Disney-billed), or your platform's subscription settings (Apple/Google/Roku/Amazon/carrier). Your card statement's merchant name tells you which.
What do the plans cost now?
Verified July 8, 2026: Duo Basic $12.99/mo, Trio with ads $14.99/mo, Trio Premium $24.99/mo, standalone Hulu with Ads $7.99/mo. Older grandfathered plans persist until you cancel or change them.
Is Hulu going away in the merger?
No. Hulu content moves inside the Disney+ app by end of 2026 and the standalone Hulu app is expected to phase out, but subscriptions and pricing carry over. Decide based on price and what you watch, not the app change.
Do I lose my watch history switching plans?
No. Profiles and history follow your email address. Cancel, resubscribe, unbundle: it's all there when you sign back in.
