AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE · UPDATED 2026.04.26
Affiliate disclosure.
SubscriptionShame may earn a commission when you sign up for a service through certain links on this site. Here is exactly which services pay us, how much, and how it does (and does not) affect what we recommend.
The short version
If a link is tagged sponsored or marked with the FTC-required disclosure, that link earns us a commission if you sign up. The commission does not change your price. We pick which services to recommend based on real value, not commission size — and we list free, non-affiliate alternatives next to every paid one.
FTC compliance
This page exists to comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 — Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. We disclose all material connections with the services we link to.
Editorial independence
SubscriptionShame is editorially independent. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any service we list — except where a link is clearly marked as sponsored. Trademarks belong to their respective owners. Mentions on this site are based on our published methodology and the editorial judgment of our team, not on commercial relationships. We do not write paid reviews, sponsored articles, or "deals" content disguised as editorial.
Current affiliate partners
SubscriptionShame currently has no active affiliate partnerships. As of the date at the top of this page, every link on the site goes to its destination without earning us a commission.
If we activate an affiliate partnership in the future, we will:
- List the partnership on this page in plain English (which service, what we earn, when the relationship started)
- Tag every commission-earning link with
rel="sponsored"and a visible SPONSORED indicator - Continue ranking alternatives by value, not commission size
How affiliate links will be marked (when we have any)
Every commission-earning link on the site will use one or more of these conventions:
rel="sponsored"attribute on the link itself (Google's recommended marker)- A visible SPONSORED tag near the link
- An italicized disclosure inside the article
Display ads served by Google AdSense are clearly labeled "Ad" by Google.
How any future affiliate relationships will affect (or won't affect) recommendations
- Inclusion: services are added to our database based on user demand and feature parity. Affiliate availability does not affect whether a service appears.
- Ranking: we rank alternatives by value, not commission. Free open-source tools that pay us nothing will continue to be ranked first when they are the best option.
- Tone: a service that pays us a commission still gets criticized in our content if the criticism is honest.
Display advertising
SubscriptionShame may, in the future, be funded in part by display advertising delivered by Google AdSense. Ad placements are visually separated from our editorial content and clearly marked. Google's data practices are governed by its privacy policy.
Disclaimer about referenced services
Mentions of third-party services on this site are made for informational and comparative purposes. We are not responsible for the content, pricing accuracy at the moment of your visit, terms of service, or business practices of any third-party service we link to. Always read a service's own terms and privacy policy before signing up.
