ABOUT

We built this because nobody else was telling you the real number.

Surveys consistently find that Americans underestimate their subscription spending by 2 to 3 times. The companies billing you have no incentive to remind you what you're paying. We built a free tool that does the math, in your browser, without an account.

Our mission

End the silent subscription waste tax. Most American adults are paying $100–$300 per month for stuff they barely use. The math is depressing, and the cancel buttons are intentionally hidden. Our job is to make the depressing math 90 seconds long, then show the cheaper or free alternative for every paid service we list.

How the site works

You type a subscription name. We fuzzy-match it against a curated database of 90+ services with up-to-date 2026 American retail pricing. You rate how often you actually use each one. We compute monthly cost, annual cost, and how much of that is going to services you barely touch. Then we show free or cheaper alternatives for every paid service.

No data leaves your browser. There is no database. We don't ask for your email. The site is funded by display ads and affiliate links to a small set of services we'd recommend even if they didn't pay us. Affiliate links are clearly tagged as sponsored.

Why this is different from other "subscription tracker" sites

Editorial approach

We are not a personal finance influencer. The site doesn't pretend that one of us cancelled $700/month and now lives on rice and beans. We rely on published research and verified pricing from each service's American homepage. Where we make recommendations, we use the same waste math we apply to your inputs.

How we plan to fund the site (transparently)

SubscriptionShame currently has no active affiliate partnerships and no display advertising. The site is funded by the founder out of pocket while we build out content. Our planned funding is two streams: display ads through Google AdSense once our application is approved, and affiliate links to a small set of services we'd recommend regardless. Any future partnerships will be disclosed in plain English on our affiliate disclosure page the day they activate. No partnership will ever influence whether a service appears in our database — only whether the link to it earns a commission.

Editorial independence

SubscriptionShame is editorially independent. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any service we list — except where a link is clearly marked as sponsored under our affiliate disclosure. Trademarks belong to their respective owners. Mentions on this site are based on our published methodology and the editorial judgment of our team, not on commercial relationships.
